Drives and Soft Starts

Southern Rewinds have been asked by a local private school to design, build and install an energy saving package for their swimming pool pumps. Currently the two pumps use a total of 63000kwh/year equating to 7421kgs of carbon. By installing two Mitsubishi FRF740, 3.7kw power saving inverter drives and running the pumps at 80% of full load for 16hrs and then over night at 50% of full load, the pumps will use 23300kwh/year equating to 2745kg of carbon. These figures mean that the cost of the installation will be recovered in approximately one year.

By just installing a Mitsubishi Drive turning on the energy saving feature and running a motor at full load you can save between 5% and 8%, if you turn down the drive by 20%, from 50Hz to 40Hz you can save approximately 50% in energy costs.
